VLAD Laws – The Real Reasons?

Laws that have been effecting motorcycle groups in Australia, especially in the northern state of Queensland and New South Wales further south have brought up many questions regarding democratic and human rights. The rhetoric of a world threatened by terrorism is now flowing into other parts of the law. It is now evident that it is no longer what you do that will be judged rather who you are or who you associate with. 90% of these groups are harmless with members never convicted or spent any time in jail . A gathering of people expressing themselves in what they thought was there right. But these groups of people are being targeted and hunted by a new law  that some have compared to the extreme German Nazi era. The VLAD law. A law that could see anyone being detained and spending 6 Months imprisonment in pink overalls for association or if caught riding in a group of motor bikes 3 or more . The police have now deemed these organisations as criminal and are out to destroy them once and for all. The only problem is, are they really criminal organisations or merely a group of people wanting to gather on their own terms like so many other minority groups in Australia. Some are predicting this is only the beginning of what could prove to be a dictatorial law that will no doubt cause some serious problems.

Who will control the State of Surveillance

Whenever I think of surveillance I think “OK”. This could be a good thing. Catch the bad guy in action. Get a detailed description of who and where he is at any given moment. A strategy to hinder and deter violence and crime. “SOUNDS GREAT!!” However, there is a new type of surveillance, well not that new but new to the public. One that crept up on us all. Hidden behind secrecy and motivated by national security.  A type of surveillance that many do not understand as it involves a level of technical understanding that comes from dedicating time and understanding. The type of surveillance I am talking about it Metadata and IMSI Catchers. Even if you have a basic understanding of what these are then you will understand the power it can hold over an individual or company in this day and age where most of everything they do involves data. Data sending, receiving, banking, locations, products and so on…

To understand more about the current status on surveillance that is going on around the world. Please watch this excellent one part series featuring Edward Snowden.

Tired of Conventional Living

I have set a link to an Australian experimental documentary film.

“A feature-length documentary directed by Jordan Osmond and Samuel Alexander, A Simpler Way: Crisis as Opportunity takes us to Gippsland, Australia, where residents have fully embraced the notion of a simpler existence far from the maddening crowds and stress-inducing cityscapes. Part of a 12-month experiment known as The Simpler Way Project, the inhabitants of this community all share a common commitment to social change and environmental preservation.”

Many of us are overwhelmed when we think about the debt that we become burdened with. A recent study from the Roy Morgan group. An independent market research and analytics company. Have provided their study which shows the biggest single cause of death for males between 25 and 40 is suicide.  In a world that encourages competition and striving to achieve financial independence or to settle for what you can get, can and does becomes overwhelming.
